Silent Crickets (Gryllus assimilis) are the larger species of
brown cricket, and whilst not completely silent, they are the
quietest species of cricket commercially available.
Silent crickets are sold as hatchlings (3mm), firsts (5mm),
seconds (6-8mm), thirds (8-10mm), fourths (12-18mm), standards
(18-25mm) and large (25-30mm).
There is no significant difference in the nutritional
composition of any of the cricket species. The sizing and
behaviour of the silent cricket matches that of the black, and
hence it is purely down to customer preference as to which species
to feed. As with any insect, proper supplementation should be given
prior to feeding to your reptile.
