There is a good range of invertebrates available from Monkfield with most of these being sourced from UK and overseas breeders and suppliers.

The invertebrate group is vast, with more than 95% of all animals on earth belonging to this group. There is a wide selection of inverts kept in captivity with some of the most popular being stick insects, mantids, snails, centipedes, millipedes and crabs.

Land Hermit Crab

Land Hermit Crab (Coenobita clypeatus)

The land hermit crab originates from America and spends its' life living in used shells. They are scavengers and eat both meat and plant matter.

 

Stick Insect

Macleays Spectre Stick Insect (Extatosoma tiaratum)

The Macleays Spectre stick insect originates from Australia and eats brambles and other leafy plants. The females can grow to 8 inches but the males only reach half that size. The males also produce a strong odour that is used as a defense mechanism and they have the ability to fly.
